WHMCS can send emails without any additional configuration using PHP mail(). However, other mail providers may give you a better experience and access to additional features.

In WHMCS 8.0 and later, this includes Mailgun, SendGrid, SparkPost, and SMTP with or without Google. WHMCS 8.6 added support for Microsoft services. For more information, see:

Configure SMTP

To configure SMTP:

1. Go to the Mail tab at Configuration > System Settings > General Settings.

Make certain that you enter SMTP Port and SMTP SSL Type correctly. Incorrect settings can prevent WHMCS from sending mail.

If you choose Google as your service provider and Oauth as your SMTP authentication type, use the steps in Setting Up Google As Your Mail Service Provider to finish configuring your mail provider.

4. Click Test Configuration at the bottom to make sure that you entered everything correctly.

5. When you see a success message, click Save Changes.
